Using Pharmacology Conference Room PCs

Using Pharmacology Conference Room PCs

We have recently added a desktop PC to the main conference room in P18-6107. Those presenting in the conference room can continue to use a laptop with the adapter on the podium, and now have the option to use the PC. This guide will help with setting up and using the PC for your meeting.

Overview

The desktop is a mini-PC located on the shelf behind the speaker unit. It is connected to the second computer plugin on the wall and has three available USB ports that can be used for flash drives or other devices. In the conference room is a wireless keyboard and mouse that connect to this PC. Please do not use this keyboard and mouse for your laptop or other devices.

Switching the Input Source

On the wall there are several buttons to control the projector. To switch from the podium adapter (HDMI) to the mini-PC, press the "PC" button and the projector should change to the desktop's login screen.

Logging In

The previous user will be displayed, so use the wireless mouse and keyboard to select "Other User" in the bottom left and sign in with your university credentials. You university username is usually your last name with a few letters of your first name. If you don't know your username, contact support@cupharm.zohodesk.com and we can locate it for you.

Using the PC

Please keep the following considerations in mind when using the PC
  1. Always sign out completely when finished. Please do not shut down the PC or select "switch user."
  2. Do not save/store large amounts of files on the PC as it has limited storage space. The best practice is to bring a flash drive with your files or connect to a shared drive to access them.
    1. Other methods of getting your files on the PC include opening your email with the file(s) (https://outlook.office.com/mail/), or accessing your file(s) from OneDrive (if you sync to OneDrive).
  3. The PC does not have a dedicated webcam, microphone, or speaker. It can be used to share things visually over Zoom, but is not designed for Zoom conferencing.
  4. Don't forget to turn off the projector after signing out (leave the computer on).
