Using Identity Manager for Sponsored Users

Using Identity Manager for Sponsored Users

This guide will walk you through creating a new sponsored user account as well as extending an existing sponsored user.

Transitioning a User Account to a Sponsored User Account

OIT has a video outlining these steps that this guide is made from.
To begin the process of sponsoring a user, have the user fill out the information on this page, making sure to use their existing @cuanschutz.edu email address. The Departmental Contact Name should be your name (Jennifer Orsund). OIT has a short page on how to fill this form out as well: link.

Next, log into Identity Manager and you will notice an indicator on the "Pending Approval" icon (this example has 5):

Next, click on the link of the request:

This will open up the request in full. Ensure that the information they entered is correct and change the "effective date" near the sponsored user section to the day this user will transition. In the top right, click the "Claim" button.

Then you can click the Approve button that appears:

This will start the process of transitioning the account to a sponsored user account.

Extending Sponsored Users

OIT has a video outlining these steps that this guide is made from.
To extend a Sponsored user, login to Identity Manager and click the "Manage Button" in the top right:

Then click the "Users" tile:

You will then need to look up the user. It is usually easiest to change the dropdown to email address and search by email address. Then click on the user's login name (blue text).

It will pull up the user account and its information. Click the "Modify" button just below the name:

Depending on your access, this screen make look different than what is in the video. Find the "Account Settings" section and there should be a sponsored user "end date." Change this to 5-6 months out from today.

Click the green "Submit" button and the change will be made:

It takes a while for the change to fully take effect, but you can double check a few hours later to verify that the new date shows up when you look at the user in Identity Manager.
